Cycle of Life

One day I stepped into my shadow
and became a shade of grey
One day I lost all my fear
And simply said "Come what may"

One day is a minute, One day is a year
It all looks the same to me from here
a never-ending spiral
of trips on DMT
for all eternity.

One day my third eye will pulsate
As I take my final breath
One day I'll release a chemical
that will forever save me from death

One day as you, one day as me
Picking and choosing who I should be
a never-ending spiral
of trips on DMT
for all eternity.

One day I had a dream...
that I had swore was so real
One day I dreamed of having that dream
and that wound will never heal

Dreaming of dreams and things that could be
all within a brilliant lucidity.
Life is a never-ending spiral of trips on DMT
for all eternity.

DMT is in everything,
in every living being.
Could this be,
quite possibly,
some sort of pattern I am seeing?

One day I gave up everything
to lose myself in the sound
One day I figured out the secret
and this is what I've found

My soul is part yours, your soul is part mine
Everyone and everything is entwined
The only secret to life is in having control
and all this means is simply embracing your soul

The more you embrace it, the more you will find
That you can appreciate every state of mind

Perception is but a disguise
and happiness is only a state of mind.

Author notes

You may have a hard time realizing the message of this, but Ill put it more simply here. Life is always worth living because eternity is a long time. There is no way to determine "quality" of life except solely based on personal preference, which makes it hard for people who are unmotivated or confused about what they want to do to be happy. The only difference is how you perceive every individual moment of life. Happiness is a state of mind, completely unrelated to what exactly is going on in your life at that time. This is the "secret" Buddhist monks have found, it's how they persevere in complete happiness through intense heartache, hunger, pain, and a life devoid of the things most of us consider to make life "better". Life's not about what's "better", there is no such thing. The grass might be greener, but its just as hard to mow. If you sit and think about life, about the beautiful symmetries, the complexity in which every single part of our world operates, music, friends, family, even something as simple as a puppy or a sunset, you can derive incredible amounts of beauty, serenity, and divinity from it. Life is worth living solely because it is divine, it is both life and death, the precursor to an afterlife and the afterlife itself. We are all one consciousness, one soul, experiencing itself subjectively, matter is just energy condensed into a slow vibration, we are all just difference parts of a universal whole. Everything and everyone is connected, and most importantly, you control your own destiny. If you want something bad enough, you will get it. It has taken me many years of intense emotional pain and confusion, hallucinogenic drugs, meditation, quantum and philosophical research (not to mention lack of sleep) and spiritual maturation to come to this conclusion, and I can only hope it helps.
May your path to this conclusion be easier than mine was.

-vicarious

P.S.: To explain the DMT reference, its a chemical known as dimethyltryptamine. I'm majoring in biochemistry, and this one chemical is in every single living thing. It is a hallucinogen of very powerful origin, which takes you off into a completely different "reality" altogether. It is released upon death, and stored in our pineal gland, or better know as our "third eye".

DMT... interesting. I did not know the facts about that until I read it here. The poem itself was great, shining brilliance in the highest degree, but also interesting end note...mmm good job!
