Freedom

To all the men in uniform and all the women Too
Who serve so faithfully for the red, white and Blue
May the Flag forever wave over the land we love so Dear
The land that God has blessed for many and many a Year

May we always remember those who left us a Legacy
Of many values learned, to keep our Liberty
May we pay a tribute to all, who paid the highest Price
To say thank you one and all, for some have lost their Life

Never to forget the sacrifices Made
To keep the Stars and Stripes over the land of the Brave
The land of the Free whose doors are open Wide
Is a refuge to those who would like to come Inside

God blessed this land with beauty, grace and Pride
He also blessed the people who will not run or Hide,
For freedom rings today in the Great Land of the True
Long may the flag wave, of The Red, White and Blue.

Brava! Couldn't have said better myself. I've had loved ones serve in the military they truly need our support. They serve when none us want to, so that we have a right to bitch and complain. We really don't how lucky we are to live in a country that allows us that freedom. My hats are off to our soldiers.

    • Thank you for your kind comment. I have written several poems about our Military. They need to know we at home support them and love them. I gave a couple of them to a soldier or marine to share with his men. He was very grateful.

    Great job.

I could see this as a song, if put to the right tune. This is a true piece of work that should be praised.

My only bit of advice is that the whole capital letter at the end of the line is a bit strange to read.

    Great work! Very patriotic!
    • Thank You

I am so glad you enjoyed reading my poem. The capitalization of the last word in each line is: I was told that the Native American People write this way. I used it in this poem. I never checked it out. Katie

        Ah.

I haven't heard of such. Interesting perspective.

I wasn't downing your piece at at, if that's what your getting at. It's a very great poem!

Awesome poem! I love patriotic poems and songs and things like that. I think this is a wonderful tribute "to all the men in uniform and all the women too" who serve in our armed forces. Happy 4th of July!

It does my heart good to hear a young person say how they feel about their Country, Flag, Military, etc. God bless you and yours. Have a grand 4th of July....Katie
