Xenophobia

Irrational, unreasonable…
fear rises unbidden to paralyze.

Within the darkness of the mind
childhood tales take on reality
and imagined protections
crack under the strain
of truth.

The unknown,
so bright and blossoming in
the hope it offers,
becomes a black flower
that poisons the soul.

fetal cries echo in
self dug pit of despair

and only silence answers.

Author notes

Exceptional! Fantastic poem you crafted here.
    The unknown,
    so bright and blossoming in
    the hope it offers,
    becomes a black flower
    that poisons the soul.
that's a powerful description of the phobia.
