Newlywed and still becoming
comfortable in their new situations,
each in a world not quite their own,
She said, “Sometimes you’re a mess and
you don’t even know you’re a mess
and that’s what worries me.”
And he said three words
that remind me of a vision I once had
about the idiot and thief crucified
to the left and right of Christ.
As they continue I am reminded of another vision,
one where the ground is parched and
two martyrs face each other,
each almost crucified,
each needing one more spike.

This is great stuff. The last stanza is what defines good writing I think. Very clear and without any of those poetic frills some people use. You let the poem do the work for you. Admirable.
I likes.
