Tasting Oblivion

Removed from arteries
ample libations flood spirit
while iris of moon watches
for harlequin hidden longings
held beneath breath of victim
who perhaps hopes to be taken

Rhetoric remains silent in night's shadow
as blood lust answers tortured screams
with cruel crimson tendencies to stifle
suggestion that any light is possible
