I Lay Alone (rewrite)

I lay still tonight
not a single tear drop shed,
nor a noise to be heard
but the sound of my lungs
exhaling cold air,
thoughts stirring
begging to be known
by you.

I lay hoping
one day
you'll realize
just how much
you've changed
the world
that has
consumed
who I am today.

I lay wishing
you'll open your arms
only waiting to
let me in;
hold me;
take away
every pain
I've ever felt.

I lay unnoticed
by your eyes
so sweet,
so tender,
so inviting,
so tempting
to give in
and confess my every fear.

I lay wanting
to speak every thought,
relief
of my curiousity,
a simple
touch of skin,
nothing more than to be loved.

I lay alone tonight
leaving
these thoughts
to be tucked
neatly behind
what we've
created:
TRUST.

Author notes

Okay, I wrote a poem about a month or so ago titled "I Lay Alone" which is what I used as a template, so to speak, for this poem here. Here's the story. My best friend and love of my life (well, not really but she is my best friend) wrote a poem for me which was the sweetest thing ever! NO JOKE! So, I wrote back with a poem of my own. I didn't want to spend four or five days writting this poem because I wanted to reply right away, so I took a differnt poem that I had written and reworded it. I'm sure you all can browse through my poems and which one it is I'm talking about because I'm far too lazy to copy and paste a link here. Anyhow, enjoy.
