Thousands of years ago
I was raised among the sweat and blood of slavery
all in the name of the Gods;
no one had ever made a force
that took a beating like me.
Throughout the millenia that passed
I watched the war
I watched the hate
tear apart my land
and I saw it all through the eyes of stone.
Eyes that cannot weep for the dead
and the ravages of time
that have so desecrated the mystic land.
When once I saw the glory and beauty
of an empire mighty,
now I see the ancient relics
shattered in the sand.
The faith is gone
yet still I stand,
a lonely sentinel among the sands.

EXCELLENT!!!!!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!!
It reminds me of a poem/sonnet i studied last year by Percy Shelley called Ozymandias.. anyways..
I love how you are writing from the point of view of the ancient walls themselves.
Absolutely wonderful, I loved these lines:
"I saw it all through the eyes of stone.
Eyes that cannot weep for the dead"
and "yet still I stand,
a lonely sentinel among the sands."
Really fantastic job, thank you for making my day with this wonderful piece.. keep on writing!
