What do you see,
Up above those stars?

Do you see me,
And the tears I cry
For you?

Do you see the nights,
I lay awake with bloodshot eyes
Unable to sleep but unwilling to weep?

What do you hear,
Above the sun?

Did you hear the ambulance sirens
Or the cries as I held you
Cold blood sticking to my soul?

Do you hear my wishes
That I whisper to you,
The ones I’ve never told anyone else?

What do you remember
About the ones left on Earth?

Do you remember your mother’s safe arms,
Or your sister’s caring smile,
The one that was in her eyes?

Do you remember your dog’s soft fur,
And the feel of his sticky warm drool
On hot Summer days?

Do you remember anything?
See anything?
Hear anything?

Or is it just me,
Hoping more memories are being made
Even though you’re not here?
Just me hoping that you can see
Even experience
What I’m doing in life?
