That Handprint

faraway across a scar-crossed lover's galaxy
upon painted black walls
stars glittering in
that handprint
memorizing your face

in word shallow
that barely echo
and weren't ever sold
she was silent like a rainbow

she wasn't ever taken away from me before
until that night
the pain seized me
and I ceased to be
that handprint smearing
the life among her face
smothering the suffocation
from indentured fate

shadows retreated
leaving empty wine bottles
sleeping
    behind

a fantastic poem full of such a deep sadness of emotion which I could feel so deeply through your words and relate to them as I spent 35 years in silence afraid to speak about my childhood about the hurt but my motto is the past does not eqaul the future it makes us stronger to find out who we are wonderful words

  • The image that I got from this poem was truly chilling. I like your abstract language here. It made the situation you were trying to present all the more unsettling. This was really great, something that needs to be read a few times to truly understand. Great job.
