Reality

Its a haze,
confounded by an intriguing maze,
What is the real?
Is it your ugly side,
Or is it your best?
Is it your unguarded moments?
Or those that you have carefully contrived?
Are objects, people and events in these real?
Think and think hard,
If your ugly is real,
Is all other real ugly too?
Same for the best!
What do you want to tag with 'real',
can tagging and attributing make it real any longer,
I think real is natural, helpless and just there,
you cannot tag it,attribute it,
or call it ugly, unguarded, best or bad,
It is neither something that you need to hide,
it is the roots from which you have risen,
Its real and in you,
its all over,
and it cannot stand in a queue,
for you to show,
my contrived has gone...and now comes the REAL!

Author notes

and it cannot stand in a queue,
for you to show,
my contrived has gone...and now comes the REAL!

This was an interesting poem. I personally think you repeated the word real too many times. It was deliberate of course but it needed to be placed in a better spot for each word or maybe used a different word, but that's just my opinion. Thank you for entering and good luck.

abstractly done...and interesting to chew upon!

I must have read this poem three times, and each time,
    a different line un-ravelled it's meaning.
I'm pretty sure we've all had "ugly" times in our life
journeys. AS poets it is true, we have to write many
many poems to develop our inner writing voices.

However..we must always be MINDFUL that we do not
READ more into a poem that is meant to be. For many of
us poets write on prompts testing our abilities to
    confront unknown truths or realities.

    Write Right Rite

will the real poet please stand up??? reality is unkind, sublime, and most beautiful in rewind! Or is it? I like the idea of wrestling with the concept of reality. Problem is, we never know if we are right or even close to right. But, keep writing...

    real

I definitaly love reading things I have to think about. Especially when it makes me think not of the poem, but the topic in a broader sense. Good job.

    Great Write

An excellent poem to ponder. Reality can be different as night and day to people. I think it all depends on your lifestyle and upbringing and the faith you have or do not have. Everyone sees the same pcture differently. They bring their own perspective to it. Their own reality plays a part in what they perceive. You take care.

    Bless You,
    Sandy

Good way of looking at the issue from different angles. Reality is very dependant upon where we are looking from, everything is subjective. Nice way of putting it.

    what reality is...

Reality is the state of being in how you perceive anything... The best part of reality is that it doesnt really exist as it is different for everyone, as we are all unique free thinking individuals. Your discussion on reality i this poem I think shows this conflict of what the mind thinks versus what its "supposed" to think. Just wonderful if you ask me.
