Let Her Cry

Hardened by life's tragedies,
"Queen Bitch" she's called, her majesty.
She's tough as nails and hard as rock;
There ain't no punch that she can't block.

And yet there's one who sees much more:
He knows what's there behind that door.
As he draws near, she pushes away;
She must her feelings still betray.

He'll frown at her; "What's on your mind?"
She says "It's not for you to find.
You don't know me; you never will."
Yet he continues to press on still.

He wants to know "Are you feeling okay?"
She rolls her eyes. "Just go away."
But as she leaves, he grabs her arm.
"I swear to you, I mean no harm."

"I simply care," he says outright.
She stops and stares; his grasp is tight.
Tears cloud her eyes; she looks away.
She begins to cry and says, "okay."

She wipes her face, consumed by doubt.
"I'm...not allowed to let it out."
He smiles and shrugs. "Says who?" he asks.
"It's only me; take off your mask."

And that's when her walls will crumble down.
His smile will turn into a frown.
She'll fall on him and sob into his chest,
And to him, her darknesses she'll confess.

This story is to remind all readers
That all have sorrows, even leaders.
You see, there's more than meets the eye,
So always remember to let her cry.

    I really, really like this, Nick. I'm speechless. There are a few strong women I know that maybe need to hear this.

    I think I might need this right now.

    wow...hm...this reminds me of something i've done with one of my bestfriends they always see what i'm hiding no matter what i tend to show them. i like that the rhyme flowed perfectly and did not seem forced what so ever. -tear- this is so beautifully written love, very much so.

    Awww I think this is very inspirational and it's true, everyone feels sad or upset and holds things in. People can't deal with me upset, as I'm always the one who holds everyone else together. I can relate as the guy I get on with well... both of us struggle with opening up, try to get the other to do so but it's not easy for either of us.
