defiled myself twice yesterday
like circumstances
different situation
bodily harm induced
from ill-persuasive thoughts

tried with silky desperation
to dilute the evergreen of time
but even cunning can be a turn off
when turning on means
coming from beneath the darkness

filled beyond capacity
steadily packing in abundance
until bursting is inevitable
who cares anyway?
I can lie my way out of consequences

even in the chaos of quiet warring
water-logged heavens thunder in anticipation
flesh appears to be winning
but trickery as is
has the faint-hearted tricked

Spirit is not a pretentious old speculator
who has run off with oil and wheat
it is neither nor
as to whether you are employed or not
because there's nothing left to buy

skim has no reach
and we have made a mockery
of taken-for-granted even
depleted ourselves with less desire
to share that greater measure of good

I always know, when I go to read you that ..I'm in for something that's going to make me think..

that first line, speaks volumes... it leaves me thinking about the abuse we do to ourselves, the sin of negative thoughts perhaps??

but what truly captures me in this are those last lines ..and they way they imply such shortsightedness on the part of humanity...
the way ..it says but THIS is good....and then wanders off on some crusade to save the rest of the world..

which of course may not be even close to what you meant, but I love that I can take it that way..

    Thank you so very much...

  • I am jealous. It's a sin, I know, but you're writing skills are superb. What can I say? Beautifully written.

Now this is powerful. I am ashamed to say I am taking a hiatus from the greater good myself right now. i don't have the energy or the strength left. I made a critical mistake and leaned on someone who was not qualified to hold me up. Not her fault really. That was never her job or mission. Not what GOD designed her for really. Funny how that logic escapes my emotional response. Understanding and acceptance replaced by F@ck It! and screams and dry tears, men don't cry in public.

    Anyway, great write sis.

I love it when you wax philosophic my dear. I've discovered that 'greater measure of good' is not necessarily good for you or anybody else for that matter. Good luck in the contest.

    Sincerely,

  • "... flesh appears to be winning

Lots of food for thought here. What really guides our decisions ... as individuals? as countries? as humankind? Do we take responsibility for the decisions we make? Are we really listening to spirit?

Favorite line: "I can lie my way out of consequences". This attitude, unfortunately, has become a way of living for many, on all levels of society. Never accepting consequences because they paint an altered reality with lies and untruths. It's a sad world we live in these days. I'm not sure what will turn things around, but I put my hope in a vision of future generations guided by spirit and truth.

Another great write sister! Good luck in the contest!

  • Brilliant but then you always are..can feel this one and its great read out loud. Loved it. Love, C

  • I liked this very much Renee!
I know you didn't write this in a huff! It's as measured as a slide rule in trigonometry class!

Did I say I liked it? So you know!
