your voice slides
through my mind
just as smooth as
if you were still here
a tone of hope in an unseen smile
wraps around memory’s ache,
slowing its recollection
in liquored clinks of ice
and all those miles between
life and death separation -
wishing I could let you know
what a difference it makes to me

out of the contest choosen winners, this is my favorite one. I thought this should have been higher up in the list.

can't remember...
excellent posture with a drinking twist. can i ask what you might think about country music being sung in an asian language? i think it's a wonderful way to piss off southerners. liquored clinks of ice now there's a fine line right there. good luck twistin' Dalaney's attention... ~ EZB

Might sound something like John Wayne doing Akira Kurosawa, actually some of those samurai characters remind me of cowboys - something about the simplistic vision of freedom and justice they both call up.
I don't know our host, Dalaney, so I don't know what she likes - I just thought that "insinuate" was a great idea for a prompt... can take it a lot of places.

Beautifully penned indeed. Love the metaphor and the flow is so very smooth!
All the best with this
