Walking in the wind
I watch a hawk soaring deep
in the wavering June sky
As free as a thought
whirling as if a ghost
who enjoys its afterlife.
Distant dust devils
Skirting across silt roads
fade as if ephemeral love.
The high mid day sun
an ardent kiss of warm love
soft and gentle on my brow
Who could not live forever
in this simple ecstasy.

"As free as a thought" - I like that
and the last two stanzas especially.
Thank you for sharing this poem.
