Slivers of who we used to be
linger deep within these hollow shells,
scars remain fresh
in the aftermath of bitter dispute,
blood still pouring from the thorns
embedded into unsuspecting flesh.
Strange how two souls can converge
at the whim of fate,
yet collide so violently at every turn,
that reconciliation would intrude
upon the realms of impossibility.
Agreeing to disagree,
we stand proudly in our corners,
prepared for any offensive strike
at a seconds notice.
A wise man
would dump a pile of soil between us,
so that the hatchet may be buried
once and for all.
Despite intentions,
only the fool hardy would dare
to step into the fray.
And should an accord be reached,
let the peacemaker
mark that time in a bottle,
for that will define the end game,
where David and Goliath
are declared equals.

Wonderful Poem
Your words are amazing!!! I love this poem and its meaning. I felt this way a few time in my life. And I found it was better to bury the hachet and move on. I love these lines...
A wise man
would dump a pile of soil between us,
so that the hatchet may be buried
once and for all.
Thank you for sharting and best of luck in this contest. Should be a winner in my book!! You take care.
