For now,
warm breath upon
parchment skin
where charcoal eyes
sketch content
...Blurring,
in sunset golds
as limbs bow,
accepting age
...Heart won't show
just how
wild turns under
as winter
hovers closer
and fires let go.

Oh.
just how wild turns under as winter hovers closer
and fires let go!
I did not quite expect this and Oh I do like it very much. You have pushed the side walls out of that box, and oh how I love the dance!
Well done poet. Very very well done. ~Pamela

Delightful description of birches or aspen, "parchment skin" and "charcoal eyes" and "sunset golds."
Lovely personification, "limbs bow, accepting age."
Beautiful "Heart won't show just how/wild turns under" could be from point of view of a tree (its rings tell of seasons of abundance and want, but not Just How wilderness "turns under" or retreats underground or recycles into earth for next season), but could just as well come from a fox or other wildlife (winter dens, fire colors buried). Or it could be the reflections of a person, letting go the fires of life in their winter years.
The title conveys a sense of restlessness and premature entry to the wintering state. Thoughtful take on the prompt.

-
Great personification of the dryad soul within the bark.As is the metaphoric soul of humankind as well.Ageless in many ways, yet Wintering brings about the spiritual state of sleeping giants.

-
Beautiful imagery, rich descriptive language in a fine response to the prompt picture. Good luck in the contest.

This is so visual, I can actually see those trees in my minds eye... I love this kind of imagery, so beautiful to read!!!
