Battering against it's cage
A butterfly filled with rage
Disgust beats within its wings
As to life it clings
Taming the wild
Joyful dreams of a child
Captured within a jar
The field of flowers now so far
A little nose against the glass
Butterfly barely fluttering past
Holes in the tin for air
It seems the child doesn't care
"Mommy, Mommy, why doesn't it fly?"
"Because my child, it's about to die"
"How can I make it live?"
"Sweetheart, just undo the lid."
Imprisoned no more
Fluttering out of the door
Into its field of flowers
A lesson, A child now empowered.
A mother teaching her child
That you cannot capture the wild
Keeping it locked within a cage
Is a war with nature you wage
For wild things will die...
