Paint me a soul,
one with expression
flowing freely from vivid colors,
the kind that never
hesitates to cry or smile
and even when the background
becomes black,
hope brings light
to illuminate the soul.
Paint me a soul,
one that lives for today
and let the future becomes
problems of tomorrow.
Give it happiness
but allow droplets of despair
to smear across the canvas.
Let the soul cherish
the light but never
fear the darkness.
Paint me a soul,
and give it your paintbrush
so it can paint humanity.
Please tell me what you think

Wow. This is a beautiful poem. I really enjoyed it. My favorite part has to be the last stanza:
Paintme a soul,
and give it your paintbrush
so it can pain humanity.
wonderful ending, and so poignant a point. Beautiful. Thanks for entering, good luck! -
I enjoyed the imagery in your words. The last three lines really stand out from the rest. I think you did a great job with this.

Hello.
Interesting write, this contains some wise words within it, which suggests a deeper understanding and balance, as well as some understanding of Soul. I say some, due to my own limitations for I myself am nowhere near understanding many things, and of course due to the short write itself.
Even so your write: it states, to whatever extent that life is meant to be lived, and lived to the full. Living to the full means, all in the moment, and feeling all emotions, good and 'bad'. Thus there is an acknowledgment that to live fully means vulnerability. One must in my opinion feel all emotions completely, but never let them take you over; the 'bad' emotions anyway, for at my current understanding the 'bad' emotions are from flesh/ego and good from Soul.
A Soul that doesn't hesitate to laugh or cry is one that is truly alive; "even when the background becomes black', this is an acknowledgment that there is a difference between flesh/ego and soul, and that a person is actually not flesh/ego but Soul, thus no matter how black it gets, in the scheme of things, there is a lesson to aid the growth of the person, no matter how painful, no matter how bleak it looks. This does depend on the persons actual stance of whether this place is prison or school, and whether they are victim or student.
"Hope brings light to illuminate the soul"; I disagree with you completely, for where is the hope coming from, what is registering it, and what is it propagating it to? My own answer, and I mean no offence, and am sure we can respect differing views, is that it is the soul which is the source of hope itself. For hope is not an external thing coming from a situation, for situations and perception of are subjective and thus where one finds hope another in the same situation finds despair, so the difference is within, that is once again flesh/ego and soul. Finite against the infinite, one's clock is ticking, and needs it as soon as, and the other knows it will come when he/she themselves is ready for that what they seek, for no obstacle that can instigate either hope or despair is there to say "no", it is there to ask you "Are you worthy for that what you seek, if not I will help make you so".
You then again state living in the here and now, the only true reality within the illusion we can be sure of is the one perceived by the soul in the moment. "Let the soul cherish the light but never fear the darkness." I agree with this but feel there is more for the soul itself is a source of light, thus it indeed does cherish other emanations for there is something beautiful beyond words about them, the something being there own Soul, that spark uniquely them.
As for fear; fear is flesh/ego, and without fear it has no fuel to live, it needs it, Soul doesn't. Fear is based in part with the incorrect assumption that a human is flesh/ego, thus finite. Flesh/ego is insecure, has no inherent value within itself, is a thing built on external things, be it money, looks, possessions, etc, etc. It is a comparison tool, it measures itself against others, and is not secure on it's own no matter how much it tries to convince you it is. "Darkness", exists in the absence, if Soul is there, it is extinct. Well that is what I got from your write, hahaha, I did go onto my own views and beliefs briefly, don't want to end up writing an essay, not far off as it is, hahaha, but then a good write should do that. I admit I would like to have read a longer poem, for it is enjoyable, even so. Very good indeed.
My regards.

well i don't know what was stuck up \/ that guy's ass...
...but i effin loved it.
this painted a sweet display of a beautiful soul, one that i assume is somewhat similar to your own.
"Let the soul cherish
the light but never
fear the darkness."
that line sent something through me... something powerful. i'm almost glowing here in my den at 2:30 AM because... there's something so deep about this that it's like... i lack the creativity to reach into the inner depths of it. yet i am outstretched, yearning for more. no more words, just more understanding, more insight that you cannot give me because it is left up to me to decipher... it its a mystery that i must solve... a clue that i must unravel... a puzzle that i need to finish--- all on my own.
lovely work. beautiful. beautiful. beautiful.
best wishes and best of luck dear. -
This poem is written pretty nicely. You do have the technical skills I look for from poets but there is something about this poem that doesn’t sit right for me, I’m not totally sure what it is. For some reason this poem didn’t move me in anyway, and the problem is probably with me and has nothing to do with you the poet. I’m sorry this poem didn’t have an impact me, it’s about a good topic that I agree with too… Maybe this poem comes off as more telly than showing, and perhaps I wasn’t fond of the repetitive stanza beginnings. This is a good poem, it just isn’t my cup of tea.
