When we fell in love we weren't much more than kids
Only 14 and 16 they said it was a game
Puppy love they liked to call it
to young for it to last, no way our love was true
that is what they thought, I think that's what they hoped
I was daddy's baby, so he didn't really like you
Just a school year fling, it'll be over come the spring
But when they saw our love was true so they sent me far away
But my heart I had given, to you it did belong
and your heart it was mine, for our love rang true
We tried to keep in touch, but they intercepted
every card and every letter to keep us apart
They couldn't stop my thoughts
my hopes, my dreams, my love
Though we ended up losing touch
our hearts remained connected
Years they came and went, others in and out our lives
and though we were devoted and faithful we were to them
We find ourselves alone now for they have left us hurt and brokenhearted
So now do we give up on life, or do we take our chance.
When I looked into your eyes, when your lips touched mine
I found our love it never died, it only hibernated.
