Song of my Soul

O, sweet song of my soul
softly sing to the wind

kiss the world of my woe
gentle weeping begin

find the goodness in flames
from the fire deep within

so the inclement skies
hear my song and rescind

Author notes

A rhyme of Hemistichs. It is actually a 4 stich monorhyme.

The core metrical features of traditional Germanic alliterative verse are as follows:

* A long-line is divided into two half-lines. Half-lines are also known as verses or hemistichs; the first is called the a-verse (or on-verse), the second the b-verse (or off-verse).
* A heavy pause, or cęsura, separates the verses.
* Each verse usually has two strongly stressed syllables, or "lifts".
* The first lift in the b-verse must alliterate with either or both lifts in the a-verse.
* The second lift in the b-verse does not need to alliterate with the first lifts.

Truly a delight to read! This is absolutely beautiful and one of the best spiritual poems I have read in a long time. The soft flow of this read matches the message perfectly. You also taught me something; I have never heard of a “rhyme of Hemistichs” and I doubt that I could compose anything this lovely using this format. Bravo!

    Love,
    Amera♥
