spending long weeks avoiding glances
with thoughts of leaving heavy in mind
seeing no hope in time worn faces
as they stumble along as if blind
~just as if we’re all blind
having no ties to hold together
never laughing nor ever smiling
each empty day is like another
thoughts of escape are so beguiling
~escape is so beguiling
when closing down all the connections
no need to keep calling those old friends
they soon become ghostly reflections
while every road leads to dead ends
~too late to make amends
lovers are quietly saying goodbye
~yes, quietly saying goodbye
life is nothing more than broken dreams
in a world that is spinning awry
where nothing appears as it seems
~nothing appears as it seems

I think that it is a very good twist on the title. I love how at the end of every stanza, you would repeat the line before it, but not completely. This is a very good song indeed. this song makes me think quite a bit about how I look at life. Very nice write, and nothing ever does appear as it seems. Thanks for your entry.

a good poem/song - though a sad sighing floating feeling running through here, hope is lost and weary moments bleed the heart.
