Weeping Willows

Winter,
  Spring,
      Summer,
        Fall.

Weeping Willows always cry.
So many seasons;
So many emotions.
Only to start all over again
Until the day of their death.
Weeping Willows always cry.

Weepping Willows always cry.
In winter, they’re alone.
Leaves, furry friends, and birds
Are all gone.
Winter is like death.
Weeping Willows always cry.

Weeping Willow always cry.
In spring, they flourish.
Flowers blossom and birds lay their eggs,
Life returns.
Weeping Willows always cry.

Weeping Willows always cry.
In summer, things settle down.
Flowers fade and baby birds fly away,
Everything is steady, for a while.
Weeping Willows always cry.

Weeping Willows always cry.
In fall, the tension mounts.
Leaves change colors and birds fly south,
Life can change in an instant.
Weeping Willows always cry.

Weeping Willows always cry.
So many seasons;
So many emotions,
Only to start all over again
Until the day of their death.
Weeping Willows always cry.

        Winter,
    Spring,
  Summer,
Fall.

Author notes

I was sitting under the Weeping Willow around the block when I wrote this.

its really about stages in a persons life. Winter is sad and hard times in a persons life, spring is when everything is getting better and happy, summer is just kinda ok, fall is when everything is basically falling and going down. people cry to let their emotions out just to have the cycle start over again and i think weeping willows can be a very inspiring tree. Or if you want to look at it without as much symbolism, then its like this: we are killing nature. we are poluting the Earth and killing all the beautiful things in life.

A tree of memory and introspection; one that cannot let go of the sorrow of winter, and knows the fates of that which comes in spring. The weeping willow is the doomsayer.

I really like this poem. The repetition adds to the poem greatly. ^_^

    "Weeping Willows always cry.
    In fall, the tension mounts.
Leaves change colors, birds fly south,
Life can change in an instant.
    Weeping Willows always cry.

    Weeping Willows always cry.
    So many seasons;
    So many emotions,
Only to start all over again
Until the day of their death.
    Weeping Willows always cry.

    Winter,
    Spring,
    Summer,
    Fall."

I like the last few stanzas best and the way you describe the fall- and each season for that matter- as "Life can change in an instant". :] Beautiful write and a well deserved trophy.

i like the way you used weeping willows for the pain and the emotions weeping willows are very lovely trees but so much pain can be behind something so beatiful and i think you explend that very well

This is a lovely poem... Weeping willows are beautiful and strong, and many a time, I have come to one with my deepest thoughts in the form of poetry. Perhaps there is a reason why they are so sad... Perhaps trees are no different than we are. Who knows? Good luck to you!

Uh. No. I'm very familiar with the poet you chose and I see almost none of her devices or nuances employed in this poem. Sorry. There is no guile, no echoes of her voice, not even a reference to her grammatical style and arrangement of words.

How can you best a poet if you can't use at least some of their techniques to prove you CAN best them

    Okay

I liked the idea, but the poem was so squished together that I was really confused.
    Thanks for the entry though.

I'm not sure I'd necessarily classify this as a Dickinson emulation, other than the free-form at the beginning and end. The idea of the weeping willow could be carried so many directions, to something much deeper than you have here, but as is... this poem is rather literal. The seasons, what happens during the seasons. I don't get anything really deep or philosophical about it. It's a nice poem, but not strong enough to be a Dickinson emulation. But thanks for the entry. I enjoyed the piece in and of itself

I'd say that the tree really sparked your muse into action. I love how you started and ended this. The stuff inbetween makes for a wonderful read too. Thanks for posting this.
