Too High A Price

Missing image
Is 50 percent of Liberty
too high a price to pay?
Too many are willing
to pay that price today.

(It’s too high a price to pay)

It’s not like we consciously
gave it all away.
Unscrupulous men played their con
and we were just their prey.

(We didn’t consider we’d have to pay)

They listen to our phone calls
and read our emails everyday.
They manipulate the rules
and now tell us how to pray.

(Our freedom is the price we pay)

In our laziness and greed
we’ve left it slip away.
It’s time to take a stand.
We, the people, have the say!
This land we love… America
is too high a price to pay!

  • An Inter-resting ...

poem to ponder on and it was written in nice and enjoyable style! Your words are well-chosen and your poem was a pleasure to read. Good luck in this contest and I'm glad that I decided to read some of the other entries. joy

  • Very well written, and very truthful in thought. I sadly see more and more each day our Freedoms not only being lost, but a society that is no longer the same proud strong America I remember...excellent. Best to you in this contest blessings always~ Trisha
