Cold and alone
I made my way through life
Expecting nothing
And gaining everything
With you I was safe
I had everything I could ever want
So sweet, so true
Nothing could ever make me forget you
The days they passed
The years they carried us on
Through this life that wasn’t so burden free
It was you who inspired life in me
Sitting now in the fog of the past
Memories fading in and out
Pain swirling within
My fears really begin
I thought losing you was my worst fear
But I later discover it’s the emptiness inside
Looking out on the world from the windows they call eyes
Long ago silence fell upon my cries
Memories tucked away
Deep inside
Living a life that is not my own
Trying to escape the emptiness I’ve always known
Nothing I do can fill the cold cavity deep in my chest
Everything I try never succeeds
Only makes this dark and barren void bigger
Reminding me the only salvation I have rests upon this trigger
And slowly now the pain of loneliness dissolves
Warm hands gently pulling me from my ugly blood stained life
So soft and secure like those of the one who held me so tightly long before
An angel now he tells me spread my wings and be free from the empty life I live no more
