I was thinking about this cafe by Hollywood Beach
where we used to like to eat breakfast;
wondering if it was still there
Then I remembered hearing that before 9/11,
though this wasn't identified til afterwards,
some of the terrorists hung out at a bar in that area.
(that's why I was afraid to fly to NY that Fall
from the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood airport)
And Mohamed Atta, we found out, had lived,
for a time, right up the road from my house
On Atlantic Blvd, near the school my son once attended,
next to the Winn-Dixie where we used to
buy his macaroni and cheese.
How is the mind supposed to process
events such as these?

You didn't read the rules. Go back and fix that please.

Under sunny blue skies
so far removed
thoughts of those footsteps
to near to your turf
still haunting...

I remember the day so vividly,
it was like an out of body feeling,
surreal,
my sister and I visited ground zero a few years
on the anniversary of 911,
overwhelming.
awesome write
my friend.
we will always remember,
it is very scary.
GOD BLESS...
