A Whole New Life For All Mankind (Non Entry)

"Dear Darlene

The picture that you paint is rather grim.
Mankind can choose to either sink or swim.
When we've ruined all Nature's face
and we blast off into space,
perhaps we'll pause and spare a thought for HIM?"

Dear Hugh,

If it is true what I read in the news.
To sink is what mankind will choose.
All we have to do is look around to see
How we've 'bout brought Mother Nature to her knee.
And should we manage to leave for space
will we have learned our lesson from this place?
Or will we take the same old stance,
leaving it all to happenstance.
Will we be able to start a brave new society?
A world that has a little more propriety
then the one we have had to leave behind.
To build whole new life for all mankind.

Author notes

The beginning of this poem is an excerpt from one of Hugh's comments to me..It inspired me to reply with my own little ditty...I hope you don't mind Hugh. If you do I will remove it..I don't know if it is a collaboration. If so will fix it when I learn how.

The poem is not funny at all so thank goodness it is a 'non entry'...other I wise would have to remove it

I don't wanna leave this earth either, but if Heath wants to go I'll definitely go with him. A great poem in answer to Hugh's comment.

    Hi Darlene,
I wonder where the space ships will take us when we have to go to our new world? I love our beautiful world we have here and no doubt we'll do the same thing to that planet as has been done here as man never learns. Maybe they should leave all the baddies here and maybe then we'll live in peace.
    Love Jen

"A Whole New World" is what we need. (I love that Disney tune!) I hope it's possible to succeed in doing what's right for our planet. I pray it's not too late!

    Hopeful Hugs!

    Dear Darlene,

    Great response to Hugh's comment.
I love the comment poems written between both of you. if we has a choice to leave this earth I'd rather stay here and take my chances. Maybe I'll get lucky and be frozen and in the future when the ice melts I'll come back to life to a better world. Hmm stranger things have happened.
    Love Joan

Well, I don't think we learn too easily. I know we didn't learn from Vietnam, for here we are again. We make believe we can pour megatons of poison in the sky and it doesn't affect the atmosphere...we aren't very bright.

I guess we'll adjust when we have to adjust. We'll suffer whatever fallout occurs from having waited too long. Lets face it, those the downtrodden will be the ones to suffer most...as usual.

    An honest, sobering poem.

This poem gives sobering thought, Darlene. I feel tht there's not enough people who really make the effort needed to turn around what's happened to the earth and what is yet probable to happen.
I don't want to be pesemistic but it's hard not to be if what scientists and others in the know, are telling us, is true.

And who's to say if we'd do any better on another planet, another home in space. Are we going to suddenly get smart overnight? I think not, we need to take all this in stride and with each stride, step a little closer to 'going green' rather than to sink deeper into the mire of waiting for someone else to do it.

Your poem is truly food for thought, Sis, a very good write.

Thanks...Hugh answered me with another rhyme so I answered him back again but didn't post it as a poem this time...although it is...I think not only is our planet in deep do do but our economy is almost non existance any more...I wonder if we are headed for a deep depression like in the 20's...God Ihope not...but sure doesn't seem to be turning around...interesting how this pres... has about bankrupted us like all the other busisnesses he was in charge of...twas a prediction way back several years ago...coming to pass now...

    Dear Darlene,

I think, to quote my poem, you're very kind
and, I assure you, I don't really mind.
You've actually given me new thought
but don't know if to tell it here I ought.

If mankind has the choice to sink or swim
I know which I would follow as a whim.
For, after dinner, would you think me rude
if I suggested swimming in the nude?

'Coz after all, if Global Warming's true,
there's little chance of bodies turning blue
and I don't think I'd find it too obscene
to watch a naked sheila turning green!

And, if I think of all the body bits,
I wonder how I'd contemplate green tits?
But I've drifted off the topic of your verse
and, if I carry on, I'll make things worse
so I think I'd better make apology
and see what happens to the ecology.....

Applause, love and hugs (AWWW! You're all WET!!)
    XXX Hugh (R.)

      Dear Hugh,

I do not think swimming in the nude
Is cause for me to think you rude
I think for me it would be quite nice
If we could add to life a little spice

I've been told by catz green titties are the rage
but on subjects such as that you are the sage.
Your apology is accepted with no regret
since I regard you as my favorite pet...
So let us end this writing of continuous verse
which now it seems is becoming worse

Thank you my friend for having some fun
but now I think our rhyme is done..
So let's drop those suits, take a dip in the pool
It'll be the best way to keep our bodies cool

Have a good day my friend! Darlene
