"I'm American and proud of it!"

I'm proud  i am an American
though war is raging now

She is still my best friend

i stood beside Her yesterday just as i do now

i stand proud at the sound of the anthem
remembering those who strongly went off to war
protecting this our country
the best of the best
there is not a  country that compares in any of the rest
my late husband serve in the Air Force during Nam

my oldest son in the Navy in Saudi
my sister is in the Army in Iraq at this moment

and my son-in-law in the Marines for life

he spends must time away from his children and his wife

many patriotic families i've know

we're proud of our country and loved ones

and wait patiently for their return home

we stand together with truth and pride
i pray for those countrymen who never think of them

and do nothing but go through life on an easy ride
have they even noticed
have they never seen

the troubles and horrors that comes with being a soldier,

a Seaman or a Marine
they put down our soldier and say many bad things
i remember when the troops returned from Viet Nam
they were despised, heckled and called less that a countryman
if only they knew the suffering they endured

to keep our living in this country so very free

or maybe they simply don't care

as do other patriots and me

life in other countries can not compare

i'm happier being in America

then i would be in another country anywhere!
