Jonas: A Vampire Poem

Unaware of my watchful eye
The creatures lurk in the night
I wait for them to try

I see they think they’re quite a fright
Tears lost in your forever dark light
Unaware of my watchful eye

You seem distressed, my pop star vamps
Delicate ears damaged by everyday amps
I wait for them to try

Ignoring the solar rays
Walking about in a daze
Unaware of my watchful eye

A hunger too painful to ignore
A fire burns deep for blood, making heads sore
I wait for them to try

Animal blood, not good enough
A missed human meal makes them more than gruff
Unaware of my watchful eye

They think they are freaks, unnatural to man
To show the fans makes a guaranteed ban
I wait for them to try.

They are looking sad together where no one sees
Not knowing someone who feels as they do is up in the trees

Unaware of my watchful eye
I wait for them to try.

Do Vampires give you the chills?

  • Welcome to AllPoetry!

I must admit, I know little about the Villanelle form, so I can't comment on that aspect. But the storyline written here is well done. It leads the reader through the mysterious tale of what "you are seeing". Reminds me somewhat of the movie "Black Roses". Well done.
