shh--just listen. can you hear your soul speak?
can you feel it becoming more and more weak?
that's called coming of age--it can't comfort you now.
you've got to make your own decisions somehow.
with that in mind, in the midst of this crisis,
will you be an Apollo or a Dionysus?
choose now, before the old habits come back.
i'll still be here when you find what you lack.
be quiet and think--is this how it should feel?
is this what they call head over heels?
you've said your prayers && you've paid your price.
but were you praying to the Sun or the Sacrifice?
bricks turn into marble; stones morph into gold.
you've warmed up their hearts but has yours grown cold?
and you scramble and scurry to find some good news,
but it seems you've bought out intellegence, too.
shut up, shut up! this is NOT how it feels.
that voice wasn't your soul; you aren't head over heels.
yes, you can conquer, but does that mean you must?
yes, you have power, but does that make this just?
you can still come back if you want to see truth.
we can still be free like we were in our youth.
don't build this up wrong just to watch it fall.
come back, come back--i just can't watch you fall.
and it's not too late, but i can't watch you fall.
your legacy is worth nothing at all.
Author notes
I have a few theories on it, sure, but I think it could really apply to a TON of different situations. What is it to you?

An exceptionally deep, very intense and thought provoking poem you have here. I love the questions you ask, and especially:
"yes, you can conquer, but does that mean you must?
yes, you have power, but does that make this just?"
^^^Very powerful words these! very, very true!!!
I also like how you write this in the way of a conversation....In some ways this poem can be viewed as being inspirational - making people stop and think carefully about their decisions in life.
A truly brilliant write, thanks for sharing this, and taking the time to enter my contest,
Luck.

Oooh, I LOVED this. It was so full of, yes, different situations and I really enjoyed that about this piece. It held a lot more meaning than just one situation, but multiple. Amazing.
"be quiet and think--is this how it should feel?
is this what they call head over heels?"
Loved those lines. Thanks for sharing & keep writing ! ♥
