I surrender

Sipping iced tea
of summer
Quenches lusciously.
Tasty lemon
sparks of heaven.

Easing away
harsh sun
of day.
Soothing flesh,
saturating tea-bath.

Refreshed and aroused,
awakened nakedly
to play.
Bathe me I pray,
in Jasmine and Darjeeling.

Fill my dreams
with Mandarin warriors
moonlights bold
Pekoe soldiers.
I surrender
body and soul to thee.

Contest prompt: (rejection-just kidding)dreaded fear here,
prompt is: Notice the un-noticed.

Hubbie and I have been re-building our deck, and of course summer
had to arrive full force...95 degree's ouch!ouch!ouch!
and I came to appreciate a simple class of heaven sent
Iced-Tea..I told my hubbie I want to bathe in this tea!

Actually...my great grandmother used to make us tea-baths
in the summer long long ago. They always smelled of peppermint
and were so very soothing.

I love the imagery you use in your poetry. It really draws me into what you are writing about.

This poem refreshes as much as the iced tea does.

    Good write!

Oh tell me about the heat, I work in construction year round and it has been a hot and humid summer thus far. Funny thing is last week a home owner brought us some really chilled "Ice tea" I wasn't aroused but still I could of kissed her lol, it was so refreshing ~ as was this read!  Bravo!

I like this piece although I'm not sure how you meant it, to me it has to do with tea, which I love, and how it makes the sunshiny summer a bunch easier to deal with in the morbid heat that can occur
  • a good piece of poetry, ah i love tea, just any old tea will do for me as long as it has about fifteen sugars lol

    Tea baths! sounds good
  • Hahaha. Wonderful imagery here Kathleen. You made me want that iced tea now. I have never had that. Ah, well, first time for everything I suppose. Wonderful poem that had an element of tongue-in-cheek about it. Good luck in the contest Kathleen.
