Three years ago last October I meet a young lady while visiting the hospital
She had blonde hair, with those light blue eyes that see right through you.
I don’t know if she noticed I was staring at her I’m likely not her type.
I got up enough courage to introduce myself but she failed to reply.
Playing the quiet shy one it must be her style no need to try it out on me,
Maybe its my tone of voice or beard as I am sometimes scruffy and gruff,
Or maybe I had been to forward as this was the first time we meet.
She didn’t speak but nodded her head my way I think I saw her smile.
As I sat near her I found it hard not to want to say something more
Like how beautiful you are young lady, and such beautiful blue eyes.
Did you get them from your parents as they sure don’t look like mine!
That got her attention as a tear started to fall and she started to cry.
What had I done, for some reason I think she didn’t like what I said
I quickly apologized I don’t think it mattered as she continued to cry.
Offering a Kleenex to dab her cheeks and whip her eyes filled with tears.
We looked at one another and to my surprise she raised her hand to me.
Finally she was beginning to warm up to this old guy she had just met.
A promise I made to myself before this day was over she would be in my arms,
If only a few brief moments ,something I’ve acquired getting older;
Its a talent for spotting beautiful girls since I’ve four daughters.
This young lady was somewhat confused as this was her first trip too;
Hospitals are great for meeting someone you find you will eventually love,
As she came on the day of her appointment I’m so glad I was there to meet her,before she ever spoke I told her,
I love you my blonde haired blue eyed angel,Emma Marie!
(Soon to be three years old,talks like an adult, and has that smile that melts Pap-pap's heart)
