What makes me smile, outwardly
and inside, is when I experience
pure instances of kindness
Unexpected gestures
shimmering with sincerity
offered by people who
needn't have done a darn thing
But they do;
for the joy they can bring
to others and to themselves.
I have been in many situations;
both rich and poor,
nurse and patient.
Compassion makes the world go 'round;
this is how life continues
to be worthwhile.

A delicious and generally applicable answer to the question. Penned in such a lovely simple style

So simply said but so wonderfully felt. This is the type of poem that you can't only read once, and the kind that stays with you throughout the day. Thanks for entering.
