Moving On.

Drifting on an out-going tide
Allowing myself to be carried away
From the mindless mundanity of life.

Roaming with the fickle wind
Believing myself in control of my path
I step forward, into oblivion.

Aimless, I seek nothing, nothing finds me,
I revel with capricious thoughts,
And dream of timeless deserts ever shifting.

Line 3, you could've done without the comma after "mindless".

I liked this piece and your take on "moving on" from one stage of life to the next. The piece as a whole was very tightly written with no really weak points, and I loved the imagery you use. Thanks for sharing and for entering!

Strong imagery. Conveys a sense of being content with a period of aimlessness...just letting everything flow...not seeking any particular outcome. Nice job and best of luck in the contest.

Simply haunting. A beautiful flow like the graceful tides. It seems sad and yet has the dreamlike contentment of one who has truly gotten away from it all. "Timeless deserts ever shifting" really awesome!
