She sits before her canvas of stars,
as yes, unpainted,
a warm summer breeze, dances for her,
she smiles dreamily upon her realm,
from her Throne of cerulean blue.
Ah, the torments she views
tribulations and toils,
her mortal subjects,
she sighs for their follies,
and cries for their hurts.
Oh! a gamine grin, lights her face
watching their joys, successes
and frivolous flights of fancy,
she loves these mortals, their emotions
so extreme, varying and tidal.
Slowly, softly, her canvas of stars
comes into the sky, her cerulean throne
fades into darkness, her sister comes out
to play in the warm summer skies
and she moves ever forward.
Author notes
“Oh, the summer night, Has a smile of light, And she sits on a sapphire throne.”
