Across the expanse of memory
where the bugles have blown,
sand drifts into a semblance of symmetry
washing away mountains of stone.
Sadness engulfs the drifting desert,
the summer sun scorching the land
and wavering emotions insert
a shadow that weaves into sand.
All the food tossed to heaven
flies away on the burgeoning wind.
Hopes and wishes spread to leaven
peace, to heal the emotionally skinned.
In the copse of broken dreams,
the searing pain of agony resides,
while underneath, the hope still streams
to carry away the acrimonious guides.
Across the expanse of fading memory
where the bugles have blown,
life and breath call us to flowery
gardens where we're never alone.

"where the bugles have blown">>>I like this. Great auditory imagery here, and i like that it is repeated in the ending stanza. A great way to close this tale.

peace, to heal the emotionally skinned.">>>>I also really liked this. I like they way you saw the interesting bottle and that it wasn't throwing out sand, but food.....abstract food: the hopes and wishes ..... a very beautiful stanza.
