Love's Shadow

The verse, this gift that I bequeath to thee
Conveys these thoughts no other form conveys.
Beauty mirrored, rhymed, written in beauty
Displays love as no story prose displays.
Wanting to assure you’re not left wanting
Measure of words crafting meaning’s measure;
Haunting doubts I’ll capture beauty’s haunting,
Treasure phrased may not match real life’s treasure.
True, I know your tender heart is true,
Evinced with love, my love shall feel evinced.
Do my best, humbly collect my due,
Convinced by gifts of love you’ll smile convinced.
Verse of lovers; answer in kind love’s verse.
Immerse pen in ink, I in love immerse

Author notes

Shadow Sonnet

The Shadow Sonnet was created by Amera M. Andersen, may be written in any sonnet style. The Shadow takes place at the beginning and ending of each line as the words are identical or homophonic. Since all poetry was originally meant to be sung or recited out loud, homophonic words are acceptable, these are words that sound alike such as “see and sea”. (Rules: 14 lines, 9 or 10 syllables per line. The poem should have a volta or pivit; iambic pentameter is not necessary.)

Beautiful writ, Allan. Lots of emotion expressed. This style of sonnet is my favorite poetic form that Amera has created. And, I think you did well with it. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest.

There is no way you cannot win this contest. You took a very difficult form and romanced your lover with it. You did it in a way that only a master poet can do, perfect form, meter, rhyme and syllable count. It just so happens your lover created the form, so you romanced her in more ways than one.. This poem is filled with so much love that I simply want to strip naked and offer myself to your every whim and desire. I’m so proud to be your woman.

    Love,
    Amera♥
