The Butterfly

His butterfly eyes
landed on the poem
tasting its nectar
and then flying home
some of the words
were familiar to his tongue
some sounded old yet young

With butterfly eyes
he flew to another
page and another new
gathering of lines
drinking the surprise
of a strange voice and tone
written for him alone he knew.
