Chance Encounter… May 2008
Down in the town square
He saw her there
Her lithe, slender body,
Dancing on air
A winter spirit,
Meandering
Floating in stillness
An ethereal being
And he too,
Counting the cost
Of seasons past
And summers lost…
Stood silently,
And gazed into
Those azure, polished
Eyes of blue
Filled with emergency
They flowed
Like a river
Into his own
Could they have known
This day would bring?
A winter that
Would turn to spring?
The rise and fall of her breast
In his eyes,
She made no attempt
To disguise
But drank each others
Hunger in
Making love with their eyes
Like skin upon skin
Oblivious
To rain or hail
They were captured in
A fairytale
It could have happened
Anywhere
Had fate not chosen
To make it there
Call it time or place
Or circumstance
Call it love
Or call it chance
If she’s still out there
Looking for me-
By chance encounter
Please let it be

Captivating
Captivating, your use of words and the phrasing are indeed impressive. It makes you feel the passion and sensuality of the moment. Very well done.

I really enjoyed reading this, as you commented on my poem "Dark Rain." I very much agree as well, you understand how to write in a sensual, beautiful way, your descriptions, your imagery are breath taking! You are an amazing poet! My favorite lines were:
"Stood silently and gazed into those azure, polished, eyes of blue."
"But drank eachother's hunger in, making love with their eyes."
I have fallin' in love with all of it, so beautiful!

Inspiration comes...
From the life I've led, from love and loss and consequently loneliness and a sense of failure, and if all of those things make me a good poet, then all I can say is I'm glad it had to be like that...
Thank you dear friend,
Love
John
