Ultimately, it is the children who suffer
When Mummy and Daddy go separate ways
When unmarried, there are no court proceedings
No formal agreement or mitigated judgements;
But Mummy is solicitor, social worker and judge.
For Mummy’s job is to make life for Daddy
As tough as she can make it, for whatever reason
She can justify; although, he tries to see you
As much as he can until Mummy moves a hundred miles away.
In time, Mummy will make Daddy pay for you
By taking it out of his hands through the C.S.A
This sounds more like the C.I.A; but working payments for maintenance
And, of course, they take their cut!
Mummy refuses to take you to see your Daddy
For she says, he should make the effort and besides
Daddy earns more money, so, she says, “It’s fair”
And this is why Daddy only sees you once a month.
When Daddy meets another woman, who you like
It will give Mummy more reasons to hate Daddy
And a reason to not take you to see him, like on his birthday
And on Father’s day. She may even shout at the new woman.
But when Mummy meets a new man, she will praise him
Putting him on a pedestal; high, on new emotion and lust
And, ultimately, he will be everything your Daddy is not
Only to her; never to you.
If Mummy hates Daddy, and Daddy loves you
Does this make Mummy bitter at Daddy?
Does she blame him instead of herself
For every wrong? You can count on it.
