swans always intrigued me
like models and actresses
whose long necks stand
a little taller than should be
when they make noise
it is not song perfect and flawless
it is croaked and dry
and full of flaws
but that is another story all together
ugly duckling long gone
you left me too
how long can this swan song last
how will i know to let go
when will i be ok
in the knowledge that ugly ducklings
are still ducks
and you are nothing like myself

A wonderfully deep introspective piece. Excellent take on the prompt. I loved it, thanks for the great entry. Hugs, Bunny

Yea, maybe you are looking in the wrong pond, lol, oh yea, you swim everywhere. Nice write!

Your poem has an interesting volta that goes from discussing the outer beauty and inner flaws of the swan to the betrayal of a lost love. I think the final line would be improved by substituting "me" for "myself". Peace, Liz

Bet you could find a swan who was like you if you look in the right pond
