my rifle aimed down where the enemy stand
shoot them if you get a visual on them khan
peering down the streets on the neighborhood
bloody bodies piled up on top of the hood
hate filled my mind, my heart my soul
friends I have lost vanished, they down no soul
bodies with holes, and some are whole but so cold
holding on to my rifle with all of my might
darkness creeps in around us divorcing the light
to my left they drop, to my right they got popped
lying down, soulless, breathless, hands extended
loneliness creeps in their bodies hoping to be mended
trembling and aching, soul is so tormented
into the desert sand they sank, on their knees they fell
true warriors, toy soldiers, they fought with pride
hearts of man, minds of braves souls of God they are
stood together, fought together died together side by side
his brown eyes looking deep into mine with so much despair
smile that shone the world hit my face, to the sky he stare
lifeless in my arms, soulless he lies down and no one care
his life begun in a blissful moment and ended in a blur
that is him, the forgotten soldier, he dies and no one knows why
he served the country, did his part and that I attest to for sure
