My Solitary Song

The pages of my heart flutter with reminiscent song

etched with you on almost every page.

With patience and care you made my world bloom

and my feet of indecision collected faith in their stride.

But as my tears fall the future pages are empty

as this haunting longing begs for wings to fly free,

yet to leave you will be a such an aching loss

and I'm so torn between what is us and who I am.

I know if ever we are to swim eternity's oceans

I must discover the world under my own sails,

to cross rainbows and moonbeams and find inner peace,

this path I must follow to ordain the future.

Should you find another to take my place

arrows of sorrow will pierce my heart,

torn in the storm crashing upon sheltered rocks

yet the winds of self awareness keep brushing to and fro.

As I cling to thoughts that we'll never truly be apart

it's time to discover the truth of me that runs deep,

don't ever doubt your true worth to me

but this I must do to find my own song.

Lyrics -
Where I Stood by Missy Higgins

I don't know what I've done
Or if I like what I've begun
But something told me to run
And honey you know me it's all or none

There were sounds in my head
LIttle voices whispering
That I should go and this should end
Oh and I found myself listening

'Cos I dont know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don't know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should
'Cos she will love you more than I could
She who dares to stand where I stood

See I thought love was black and white
That it was wrong or it was right
But you ain't leaving without a fight
And I think I am just as torn inside

'Cos I dont know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don't know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should
'Cos she will love you more than I could
She who dares to stand where I stood

And I won't be far from where you are if ever you should call
You meant more to me than anyone I ever loved at all
But you taught me how to trust myself and so I say to you
This is what I have to do

'Cos I dont know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don't know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should
'Cos she will love you more than I could
She who dares to stand where I stood

Oh, she who dares to stand where I stood

Oh, inspired by something else. I'm glad for that. This was a tragic feeling encapsulated. I thought you were singing a sad song of your marriage breaking up. Glad that wasn't the case. Certainly was an effective vehicle for emotional delivery, however.

This is just dynamic and I sighed and cried reading this, such soft sorrow and love pinned to this and it is palpable. Beautiful entry. Love, C
