Old Friend

Gnarled and twisting with the scars of man kinds' "kindness".
Breathing gently to the wind;
inaudibly,invisibly.
Many a name carved upon your aging life.
Just another scar,
they'll have to cut deeper to hurt.

Seasons have taken their toll.
Your skin has withered, but still remains solid.
As though all knowledge rests behind that cover,
that facade.
Time treats you well.
Eroding slowly, leaving time to face your fate.
Does it still hurt?

So many children sown through out.
Will it hurt to leave them, earth's children, behind?
Sing to me just one last time.
Let your whispers be my solace.
Wither now, old friend, and fade,
for there is only so much one can create.
And in time, even that is forgotten.

Your branches will forever hold my secrets,
even when they are nothing but dust on the field below.
Sleep well dear one.

I've always believed trees have feelings and, to an extent, memories.

    interesting write
it reminds me of an eulogy in it's sentiment.

"Wither now, old friend, and fade,
for there is only so much one can create.
And in time, even that is forgotten."

    my favorite lines.
