What if water fell upon your brow
and darkness lasted throughout your day?
If those laughs were muted by heavy fog
and yesterday's joy fell victim to the night?
What if thunder rumbled through every hour
in every place your dared to walk?
Fears and worries freshly christened
by the rejuvenating power of the lightning's strike?
What if all this happened?
If the ocean was erased by raging fire
and the earth crumbled beneath the sky?
Then only a single truth would remain in place...
I'd still be here,
standing beside you,
ready to love you
in spite of
'what if'
