I thought our love would last
until the end of time,
I was envisioning you
always being mine.
But everybody knows
that nothing's guaranteed
and we don't always get
what we want or need.
Fate takes a different turn
things begin to change,
because, you know,
nothing stays the same.
There's no explanation for
the changing of a heart,
the way two people
begin to grow apart.
There's only echoes of
What used to be before,
The ending of the song,
The closing of the doors,
And everybody knows
That when it rains, it pours.

very nicely written piece about the precarious path we tread through life when it comes to relationships. perhaps a little cliched but still put together well.
-

It hurts, oh yes, and as you take damage, the more you become afraid to trust. Yet the loneliness drives you..
Great write my dear

So very true. I guess it never happens the way you wanted it to. I thought, a couple times, it would last forever.
-
I like the prompt and your take on it. The last verse is especially good. I enjoyed this a lot.
