The Statue (lyrics)

Chorus:
Call me a witch if it pleases you,
The mistress of evil, if you like that one too.
You want me back
And you know it's true.
But I'm happier being alone
And even if you don't know
I know...
My heart's not made of stone.

Drag my name around in the dirt.
You've done it so much that it no longer hurts.
You've become nothing more than a ghost in my thoughts,
So go, rest in peace, as the unliving ought.

(chorus)

Spread your feigned tales and share all your lies,
You won't see a bit of remorse in my eyes.
I know it's not true so if they choose to believe it,
Believe me I won't take the time out to grieve it.

(chorus)

I'm not the one who hates all that is living,
I'm not the one who's become unforgiving.
I am the one who is pitying you.
I am the one who was never untrue.

(chorus)

My heart's not made of stone.

These two lines just made this poem for me:
"You've become nothing more than a ghost in my thoughts,
So go, rest in peace, as the unliving ought."
    Good piece.
Thanks for entering and good luck!

    Interesting

I'd like to know what prompted the poem/song. It's very well done; typo in the chorus - mistress is missing an 's'. But a fascinating piece I can linger over for days...How did you come up with it?
