my heart stumbled,
its rhythm painful
the morning she died;
flooded, emotions broke,
free as a bird in flight
silence, the unreality
of thought; there will be
longing, as tears try
their escape, imprisoned
within mind and heart
the familiar will remind,
emptiness also; memories
will shake foundations
of love, and of knowing -
mother and my times
healing comes; journey
of personal plight, known
by those that lost this womb
that bled life’s blood -
this world of motherhood
the mind, now clouded
by tears of ache, will later brighten
into sparkle, as thoughts ignite memories
of the mother, never to be forgotten,
now living within your heart
Author notes
My parents died 13 days apart. My prayers and blessings to your friend.

Congratulations on this Gold.
I am amazed that I did not comment on this poem, that I know so well! But here I am, saying: you captured the essence of that deep ache, losing your parents. How wondrous to await the reunion, the gift by Jesus the Christ.
Blessed be.

Thank you
Myra. Some people's pain is more hurtful than others, as the one whom I wrote this poem about. Frans

Hello.
First of all, this is a powerful write, the line about losing the womb.... very powerful, but the no holds barred, face what has happened is the path to accepting then peace. There are other great lines in this, the stumbling heart and painful rhythm, and I have to say a quite unique amalgamation of sorrow and free as bird. Normally free as a bird has happy connotations; I liked the reversal on that. Your description of the pain is graphic; as I said powerful write.
Must have been tough on you, having your parents die so close together. I hope you and your parents find peace in accordance with your beliefs.
My regards.
