Kezervyk: The Stronghold of Lore

Serpentine glance, incensed
with a glare of metacognition.
Kezervyk, Mirror of Time,
Stronghold of Draconian Lore.

The last shape-shifting dragon,
iridescent scales reflecting light
and spontaneous thought: diminishing
at once to perch on Aaron's shoulder,

next swelling enormously to
swallow the moon. With each
dragon's death, Kezervyk absorbs
their memories, secrets, language.

Spewing white-flame, Kezervyk
has achieved enlightenment
through superior age, hoarding
the treasure of knowledge by
the pearl embedded between silver eyes.

Author notes

Kezervyk is the oldest living dragon, therefore making him the strongest (I hope) of the bunch. Dragon strength and prowess, as opposed to humans, do not decrease with age, but instead steadily increase with time.

Kezervyk is modeled after an aspect of the chameleon, his scales change color depending on his mood, or to reflect a power acquired by a dead dragon. When dragons die, Kezervyk, being of superior (or royal) descent, takes in the dead dragon's memory, understands that dragon's personality, and learns their language or secrets. There is a glowing silver pearl that resembles a third silver eye that lies on his forehead. That pearl is the cache of the knowledge and power Kezervyk possess.

Kezervyk also is able to shape-shift for a brief period, however, he always retains his silver eyes and pearl to mark the transformation. Part of Kezervyk's transformation is that he can shrink his true form. In reality Kezervyk is also the biggest dragon because of his age.

Kezervyk is usually reserved, unwilling to divulge the secrets of dead dragons lest the knowledge is misused.

If you want to give Kezervyk a weakness, damage to the silver pearl on his forehead instantly kills him. Hence, the white-hot flame (another mark of his age and status) being used to protect the pearl.

Wow. Interesting about his weak spot. I love the idea, but unfortunatly, Kezervyk will not fit into the first book. Thanks for the entry!
