Awaiting Autumn

Before long it was Autumn
and leaves were turned to orange
with shades of brown
and reds burning as fires in Winter.

Sunset played upon the old fiery barn
with lamplight emblazoned
through open door
illuminating out of doors
as daylight would do.

In distance Chapel stands
awaiting the morn
when it's rafter will fill
to swelling with chorus,
"Glory to God in the highest..."

But for this night,
taste buds gurgle and await
Sunday feast
and family delights
to be together again
for an Autumn festivity.

    An interesting piece...

An interesting piece; like you, I enjoy Autumn (equally as well as summer); God's handiwork is definitely present in the coloring of the leaves; loved the background graphic too. --Joe

Autumn can be beautiful, but sad too, for summer is over, winter is coming on. But containing my thoughts to the moment I can see the beauty it possesses.

    Beautiful poem.

Yes, being BiPolar I always see the sadness that hides behind those beautiful colors, but I pray each year that it not hinder my hapiness that the seasons have changed. Thank you, Yem, my dear friend.

Autumn, for what there is of it here, is one of my favorite times of the year also. The background and the message made me forget for a moment this stifling heat. Thanks for the relief.

    Sincerely,
    Leo Long

I, too, forgot for just a moment this blistering heat. I suppose if I think hard enough I can make it go away--for a moment. Thanks, Leo. Patricia

I don't know. I think I'm just bored with Summer since we didn't have a Winter at all. I want a change in weather. Thanks.
