There's Time Enough to Make the Fall

Can't you feel the the snap of her bones
Seeping between these Victorian cathedrals?

These days angels are hard to find.

~

If you listen closely to the cacophony
of chocolate screams and Demerol smiles
You can hear her tumbling
from the sky
Spinning chaotically,
a single spark
in the black storm cloud.

Plummeting, suspended by the only string that cared,
That silver lifeline always felt so cold...
And she falls, a human yo-yo;
but once she reaches the end
she doesn't come back up.

There is no more slack on her lead
and oh, the crack of her arm breaking

She swings
a tired little doll
with nothing left to live
or die for.

Her angel is gone.

Author notes

I started writing this with a certain idea in mind,
and it turned to something else much too quickly.
*sigh*
Is this how it's going to be?
